Serenwood in Sicklinghall

Team Serenwood has been quiet on the blogging front and the social media world recently.

But that’s because we’ve been extremely busy in the real world.

We’ve moved into our new offices in beautiful Sicklinghall, near Harrogate. We’re at Carlshead Business Centre and it’s a fabulous location which has won lots of awards for its innovative conversion of farm buildings into eco-friendly office space www.carlshead.co.uk

It’s a million miles away from frantic corporate life, which is one of the reasons we love it so much. There’s something very liberating about driving to work waving at the cows and the sheep!

We’ll post some photos soon so you can see how fantastic our new surroundings are…so much so that we have been holding most of our meetings outside in the sunshine recently, with only the views and the cows to keep us company.

We have been having lots of fun introducing ourselves to our lovely new office neighbours and also getting out and about in North Yorkshire to speak to lots of local businesses and let them know what we are about.

We are launching a series of training events for local businesses this Autumn, details will be on our website soon.  The first session will be on Tuesday 29th September “Contracts Made Easy”….We are determined to get you all loving your contracts and commercially savvy this side of Christmas! We’ve also completed a series of workshop with our wonderful business coach, Jennifer Potter of www.simplyjp.com who has been helping us nail our business plan and vision work. This has been completed through the government scheme Business Works (formerly Growth Accelerator). Like any business, we spend the vast majority of our time working at a million miles an hour delivering to clients, and it has been fantastic to slow down…get our heads together…and plot and plan and truly identify why we are doing what we do and how we will achieve our goals.

Our new website is almost complete and will be going live in September. We are really excited about this because it gives us a colourful new platform to capture and share our vision and communicate how we are helping and impacting businesses in the region.

We’ve got a number of exciting collaboration projects on the horizon with other advisors who are supporting business growth in the region, and we’ve met lots of inspiring people in the process which has helped us formulate our own plan for the year ahead.

We’ve started work with a number of new clients on long term projects, which is always a really fun time. We love the process of getting to know a new business and its people, and working out where best to integrate and start our magic in order to add immediate value and build trust and strong foundations for the relationship longer term.

It’s also summer holiday mayhem, so we’ve had to bring the kids into the office a few times. We have 11 little ones between us so there has been a lot of colouring and lego building in our office on occasion. But they should charge us consultancy time really, because there’s nothing better than young kids to help you look at the world with fresh eyes and show you how to innovate.

Last but by no means least, we have a lovely new recruit who has joined our team this summer. Welcome to the wonderful Kerry Gibbons and we will be posting up a “Getting to Know you” blog for Kerry next week. Thank you for joining Serenwood Kerry, we love having you with us…you’re like a breath of fresh air bringing new thinking and great ideas (and healthy salads to keep us fuelled up [no coleslaw]).
