We are NOT a regulated law firm and nor do we want to be.

1. First, have a look around our website and decide if you enjoy what you see. Do you get excited at the possibility of harnessing your legal skills in our unique way? Our approach is certainly not for everyone. We know for a fact that many traditional lawyers get confused and bemused by our view on the world. And that’s fine because we’re not looking for that type of lawyer….and our clients aren’t looking for the traditional, black and white legal approach either. It’s commercial pragmatism all the way for Team Serenwood.

2. Secondly, let’s find out if any of the following applies.

• You love(d) practising the law (and were fantastic in your zone of genius) but felt constrained or frustrated by the inflexibility of private law firm practice. Maybe you got tired of thanklessly working your way up the never ending ladder to partnership or felt you just weren’t making enough genuine contribution to your clients’ businesses?;
• You have exceptional people skills and love making connections, meeting new people and getting out and about;
• You pride yourself on solving problems and are always looking for fresh ways to approach challenge;
• You have a go-getter attitude and like learning new skills and being curious and open minded about outcomes;
• You would be willing to roll your sleeves up and get stuck in. We’re looking for hard working people who can help us build the Serenwood business as we aim to constantly over-deliver for our clients and branch off into new areas.

3. Thirdly, ask yourself would our way of working suit you? You would be joining us at an exciting time, but it’s not for the faint-hearted. We are constantly working outside our comfort zone as we create new products and offerings and we don’t have anyone to copy as we’re unique in our niche. We’re a consultancy not a law firm and our people are comfortable with uncertainty and new experiences. You will get variety, fun and challenge, coupled with:

• flexibility and autonomy around your own working hours and ways of working (aligned of course to our clients’ requirements and against an agreed plan);
• the opportunity to build your own sphere of specialism within Team Serenwood, and to be part of our exciting venture as we continue to grow;
• support from our central functions (such as office hot desk space, training, branding, marketing, IT platforms, development opportunities, finance and insurance);
• your own clients to manage and accounts to grow;
• fixed rates of pay according to the actual hours you choose to work and the option to agree success bonuses or different financial incentives depending on the project;
• the ability and support to innovate your own Serenwood products and profit share as a result;
• practical support and training to assist you when you need but freedom to manage your own diary and client portfolio;
• and of course a fantastic team who will inspire and make you laugh every day!

FINAL NOTE: It would be an advantage to have a track record in converting business development activity into new instructions, and if you have a good network from potential clients from your days in Big Law then even better. BUT please know that you do not need to be currently working. Here at Serenwood we are all too aware that Big Law has forced a lot of clever brains out of the workplace by refusing to be flexible around working patterns. We are passionate about creating opportunities to get all that invaluable brain power back to work – and our Yorkshire clients are ready and waiting for you to get stuck in helping them to grow, protect and strengthen their businesses.
