[In fact a lot of people mispronounce it, saying “serene” instead of “seren”. We’re not a particularly serene group of people, so this always makes us smile]
The word “seren” is a Welsh word meaning “star”.
Our founder Rachel was born and raised in Wales, so the use of the word “seren” was a nod to her welsh roots.
And the addition of the word “wood” was because our vision for Serenwood was upon creating a community – with a far reaching impact by using our legal skills to grow and strengthen businesses. We recognised that businesses come in all shapes and sizes, so we wanted to create a “wood” which would include seedlings, saplings, giant oaks all standing together – and all growing stronger together.
The word Seren – meaning STAR – is included in our brand, our values and our thinking.
We believe in lighting the way, shining brightly, and helping our clients to be the best they can be. We strive to bring leadership and clarity in our advice and ways of working.
We also enjoy having a brand which is anti-corporate, fresh and forward thinking. We aim to dispel the myths about boring lawyers so our brand name Serenwood tells you straight away that we are not your usual commercial contracts advisors. We do things differently and we offer something very different from traditional law firms or mainstream consultancies. We’re at pains to make sure our clients know that we are NOT a regulated law firm. We’re a business consultancy and as such we have a much greater freedom to give commercial-based advice and solutions, without being bound by the formal requirements of being your “legal advisor”.
What does SERENWOOD contribute to the WORLD
We recently spent time with a Business Coach to help us formulate our 3-year-Business Plan, and as part of that session we deeply explored our “Why”. It was easy for us to explain What we do, and also How we do it, but the “Why” was deeper.
So now you know a little more about us and why we do what we do.
Get in touch and tell us about your business and what it means to you. We’d love to hear from you.
