Team Serenwood had a fantastic time at the Brand Yorkshire show in October. Big thank you to Richard Norman and Mona Alani for another well-organised and useful event for our region.
Our main reason for taking a stall this year was to get face to face time with businesses in the region – and find out what you need by way of commercial, legal and contract support.
Being super-modest and all, we think we already offer a unique and practical range of commercial services, but let’s face it – the only way of ensuring that your service is actually meeting the customer need is by asking the question.

This year’s BY event was the busiest yet in terms of footfall – and lots of great speakers as well

Who are we?

For those of you not familiar with our brand – our name “Serenwood” is based on the welsh word “Seren” which means Star. (Our founding Director Rachel is from Wales, so this is a nod to her roots). The word “wood” in our brand was added to represent the community we serve and the safe place we want to create for our clients. Given it is a “Wood” – there is room for all shapes and sizes of trees (aka growing businesses), so we then aim to provide tailored services relevant to the maturity of each particular organisation. So whether you are a seedling start-up, a sapling blossoming SME or an established “Oak” large business – Serenwood can provide the right support package for you.

Our mission is to provide high quality, affordable commercial services which will grow, strengthen and protect the businesses within the Serenwood community.

So – in keeping with our brand and mission, we created a Tree of Ideas on our stand and asked delegates these questions:

“What do you want and need from your commercial and legal advisors? What commercial challenges keep you awake at night? Where does your business suffer from recurring problems and issues (which could be easily solved by a savvy, hands-on Serenwood friend?)”

Here is What You Said you want from us:

  • You want us to LISTEN carefully and make sure we properly understand the issues you face.
  • You need us to be CURIOUS, ask the right questions and take time to properly understand your unique business
  • HONEST advice is imperative, and this also means admitting if we don’t know the answers or if there is a problem or we make a mistake.
  • TRUST and INTEGRITY – you need to know that we have your best interests and heart and not just chasing money [this type of answer came up a few times – perchance there are a lot of businesses in Yorkshire who have had bad experiences with traditional law firms!]
  • AFFORDABLE and FLEXIBLE support with the everyday legal tasks which overwhelm you. These tasks take up precious time which you would rather spend elsewhere in the business and you are keen to outsource them to the right people.
  • JARGON-FREE expertise in a language you can understand – making sure we give simple and straightforward advice which gets decisions made quickly.
  • Be RELIABLE and become an extension of the business, a team member. Anticipate the business’ needs and create opportunities
  • Provide VALUE FOR MONEY with price transparency and offer monthly payments and a budget you can plan for.
  • Be RELEVANT, realistic and practical in the advice which we provide, having regard to the positioning of the business at that point in time.
  • Last but certainly not least – you want us to give a PERSONAL and FRIENDLY service, be accessible and offer added extras like training, education and online information so you can get answers quickly when you need them.

More Chat

Thank you everyone who took that time to come and chat with us. We’ll certainly be revising our product and service offerings over the coming months as you gave us lots of great ideas. In particular we will be increasing our online offerings and extending our training and education packages. Watch this space!
